    • Minimum Education
      High School diploma or GED. Grandfathered in as a non-certified Surgical Technician as evidenced by experience prior to 2009 OR SECTION 1. Subtitle B, Title 4, Health and Safety Code, is amended by adding Chapter 259 to read as follows:CHAPTER 259. SURGICAL TECHNOLOGISTS AT HEALTH CARE FACILITIES(4) is in the service of the federal government, to the extent the person is performing duties related to that service.(b) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), a health care facility may employ a person to practice surgical technology at that health care facility from the date the person graduates from an accredited school of surgical technology until the 180th day after the date of graduation. The person may not continue to practice surgical technology after the 180th day after the date of graduation without showing documentation to the health care facility that the person holds and maintains the surgical technologist certification required by Subsection (a)(1).
    • Minimum Work Experience
      Vascular experience preferred. 5 years experience. Must live less than 20 miles from Hunt Regional. 
    • Required Licenses/Certifications
      If not grandfathered in as a non-certified tech, must hold and maintain Surgical Technologist certification. Appropriate CPR
    • Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
      Knowledge of Obstetrics operating rooms, supplies, equipment, unit protocols, policies, and procedures. Must be able to react quickly and efficiently in emergency situations. Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and patients. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
    • Preferred Qualification
      Two years’ experience and vascular experience. 


    Must work varied hours and schedules. Requires prolonged walking and standing, frequent bending and/or stooping. May involve lifting or positioning of patients. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. May be exposed to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. Requires ability to sustain concentration in a noisy and fast paced environment. May be exposed to violent or disturbed individuals
