MANAGER OF CATERING EVENT LOGISTICS

 Position Type: Exempt/Salary/Full-time

Work Week:  Non-typical, Average 50 Hours Per Week

Reports To:  Chief Operating Officer

 Position Description:

Responsible for The JDK Group’s rental and onsite/venue operations teams for catered events and the direct influence these teams have on the execution of the events.  The Manager of Catering Event Logistics ensures the success of everyday operations by appropriately training and maintaining the organizational systems and staff members of the rental and onsite/venue operations teams.

 Specific Responsibilities of the Job:

 Supervision/Training/Staff Development

  • Oversee production and quality of work with rental and onsite/venue operations teams complete with daily meetings, constant hands on coaching, and employee accountability through monitoring and appraising job results and routine employee appraisals
  • Maintain and manage safety standards in-house and at venues with rental teams
  • Ensure operations and event success by improving and advancing training programs for rental and onsite/venue operations teams, to include knowledge of venue policies
  • Play a key role in the hiring, development, corrective action and termination of rental and onsite/venue operations employees
  • Identify staff with potential for increased job responsibilities, leadership positions and future core team or management positions

  • Responsible for both Forklift and Driver Training programs

 Management of Assets

  • Manage rental and onsite venue inventories to ensure accurate inventory control and proper stocking of goods, to include using the FIFO system
  • Create and maintain standards for asset maintenance of rental and onsite venue inventories to include proper storage and transit of items; continually working with the staff to help educate and improve our asset maintenance program while also holding the staff accountable
  • Maintain physical condition of rental and onsite venue inventories through proper training, inspecting rental equipment, issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
  • Oversee vehicle and forklift maintenance and upkeep in safe, working condition and in compliance with state inspection requirements
  • Responsible for purchases when necessary and reconciling new, damaged or broken inventory within data management systems
  • Communicate with appropriate departments, to include but not limited to the sales team and staffing teams, inventory and quality control concerns
  • Responsible for communicating any onsite/venue inventory needs, such as paper products to the Manager of Catering Warehouse Operations

 Administrative, Managerial and Financial Responsibilities

  • Prepare all rental logistics schedules with qualified personnel and truck routing schedules to include securing additional rental vehicles as needed
  • Develop personal weekly schedule to include being available for oncall shifts and questions, late evening issues and weekend work
  • Manage labor costs through daily payroll audits and day-to-day management of staff
  • Adhere to and provide input for departmental budgets set by the COO
  • Participate with Leadership Team in general management issues as well as monthly Managers’ meetings
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Weekly communication updates to COO of department status, advancements, and personnel issues
  • Communicate as necessary with Director of Warehouse Operations and the Staffing Department regarding shared staff
  • Establish and manage vendor relationships and work to build effective partnerships
  • Required to step into other warehouse roles if positions are currently empty, there is a lack of staff, or for call offs

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record for 3 years and reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass/comply with background, driver’s record, and reference checks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

 Physical Demands

  • Lifting 25lbs on a regular basis
  • Standing, walking, climbing, and reaching is often required

 Work Environment and Other Pertinent Job Information

  • Nights and weekends are necessitated
  • Long hours and long days are typical
  • On-call hours are required
  • Participation in trade shows, donations, and other events that The JDK Group partakes in
