Position Overview:

  • The Licensed Vocational. Nurse assists in the assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating of patient care for all ages under the supervision and direction of the RN.


  • Minimum Work Experience - None

  • Required Licenses/Certifications - Current licensure with the State of Texas, Appropriate CPR Certification.


  • Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan.

  • Conduct reflects HMHD’s values and a commitment to HMHD’s Code of Conduct.

  • Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program.

  • Complies with all HIPAA standards.

  • Exibits good customer service skills and fosters a positive team environment that is conducive to retention of team members.

  • Prepares charts for scheduled surgeries including all required documents, and any pre-operative testing ordered.

  • Promptly Fills out online committee event form when necessary.

  • Supporive of management decisions regarding allocation of personnel and is willing to float as needed.

  • Ensures that physician orders are followed. Ensures communication of the physician needs and preferences. Orders pre-op meds per MD orders.

  • Instructs patients and family members of necessary nursing care, understanding of disease process, hospital routines and procedures.

  • Acts as a liasion between family and visitors in the waiting room and staff/patients in the perioperative process.

  • Promotes a positive work environment that enhances professional respect, growth, creativity, and active participation in achieving of the mission and vision of the organization.

  • Attends unit specific meetings.

  • Completes required education in a timely manner.

  • Participates in unit based customer service projects.
