-- Plans & implements the daily curriculum for children in the classroom.
-- Oversees and coordinates the children's personal care, hygiene, learning activities, specialized programs and positive guidance.
-- Maintains classroom records and developmental checklists.
-- Ensures that classroom and other play areas are consistently clean and safe.
-- Positively informs parents of their children's progress on a daily basis.
-- Maintains communication and teamwork with co-teacher assigned to the classroom.
-- Performs a variety of activities that ensures age appropriate learning.
-- Keeps director informed on a timely basis of pertinent issues regarding staff, children, families and the program.
Specific Duties of the Job:
-- Enthusiastically greets and engages parents at drop-off and pick-up times
-- Maintains a positive relationship with parents
-- Talks to the parents everyday about the child's day
-- Creates a soft, calm, safe, and loving environment
-- Feeds and diapers children as needed
-- Actively talks to infants throughout the day
-- Follows the center's policies and procedures
-- Writes accident/incident reports
-- Works cooperatively with coworkers, director, and assistant director
-- Maintains confidentiality and follows the center's Social Media Policy
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Requirements:
-- Knowledge of growth process of newborns and infants
-- Knowledge of activities that stimulate newborns and infants
-- Knowledge of safety issues surrounding newborns and infants
-- Skills in patience
-- Skills in positive communication
-- Skills in time management
-- Ability to organize environment
-- Ability to move and react quickly
-- Ability to remain interactive throughout the day
-- Ability to accept feedback and execute program professionally
-- Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs. numerous times a day.
-- Must be able to lift and carry children.
-- Must be able to stand 95% of the time.
-- Must be able to repeatedly bend, stoop and run.
-- Must be able to effectively interact and communicate with children and parents
-- Must maintain a minimum number of continuing education hours (30) each year.
--The teacher must be eighteen years of age or older to meet the state licensing age requirement .
--Must have a High School diploma or equivalent
--Previous work experience is preferred
