Reports To:  Chief Operating Officer

Position Description:

Responsible for The JDK Group’s catering warehouse to include pack, laundry and dish departments and the direct influence those departments have on the execution of the events.  The Manager of Catering Warehouse Operations ensures the success of everyday operations by appropriately training and maintaining the organizational systems and staff members of the warehouse teams to include pack, laundry and dish departments.

Specific Responsibilities of the Job:

Supervision/Training/Staff Development

  • Oversee production and quality of work in each area of the warehouse (pack, laundry and dish departments) complete with daily meetings, constant hands on coaching, and employee accountability through monitoring and appraising job results and routine employee appraisals
  • Supervise load and unload of event trucks in an organized and safe manner for equipment and personnel
  • Maintain and manage safety standards in the warehouse
  • Ensure operations and event success by improving and advancing training programs for warehouse teams
  • Play a key role in the hiring, development, corrective action and termination of pack, laundry and dish department employees
  • Identify staff with potential for increased job responsibilities, leadership positions and future core team or management positions

 Management of Assets

  • Manage the warehouse inventories including but not limited to china, glassware, silverware, linens, paper products, beverages, limited food products, décor and other elements used onsite, to ensure accurate inventory control and proper stocking of goods, to include using the FIFO system
  • Create and maintain standards for asset maintenance of warehouse inventories to include routine physical inventory of hard goods, proper storage and transit of items; continually working with the staff to help educate and improve our asset maintenance program while also holding the staff accountable
  • Maintain physical condition of warehouse inventories through proper training and inspection of warehouse inventories
  • Responsible for purchases of on-site hard goods (to include but not limited to china, glassware, silverware, linens, décor and other elements used onsite) when necessary and reconciling new, damaged or broken inventory within data management systems
  • Responsible for weekly purchases and budgets of paper and warehouse products
  • Communicate with appropriate departments, to include but not limited to the sales team and staffing teams, inventory and quality control concerns
  • Responsible for opening operation and closing procedures of the warehouse
  • Oversee property, building and equipment maintenance and upkeep in a safe, clean and working condition and in compliance with appropriate inspections and license requirements

 Administrative, Managerial and Financial Responsibilities

  • Prepare all warehouse schedules to include pack, laundry and dish departments, with qualified personnel
  • Secure all additional inventories (such as china, silverware, glassware, etc.) needed for optimal execution of all events
  • Develop personal weekly schedule to include being available for oncall shifts and questions, late evening issues and weekend work
  • Manage labor costs through daily payroll audits and day-to-day management of staff
  • Adhere to and provide input for departmental budgets set by the COO
  • Collaborate with culinary and event production staff in oversight of production sheets and assemble and organize products for events
  • Participate with Leadership Team in general management issues as well as monthly Managers’ meetings
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Weekly communication updates to COO of department status, advancements, and personnel issues
  • Communicate as necessary with Manager of Catering Event Logistics and the Staffing Department regarding shared staff
  • Establish and manage vendor relationships and work to build effective partnerships
  • Required to step into other departmental roles if positions are currently empty, there is a lack of staff, or for call offs

 Physical Demands

  • Lifting 25lbs on a regular basis
  • Standing, walking, climbing, and reaching is often required
