The Simple Gourmet Kitchen is a catering company based in Redondo Beach. We specialize in feeding professional athletes. We make food for sports teams and individual athletes 5 days/week. Catering Line Cook Job Summary

The Catering Line Cook will work with our Lead Chef to prepare hot and cold food. Duties include following weekly menus, daily prep lists, company operating procedures and food health/safety procedures. Work may include prepping vegetables, trimming and portioning meat and seafood, grilling, sautéing, roasting, braising, and sauce making. Previous catering experience and work in a team environment preferred.

Catering Line Cook Duties & Responsibilities

  • Follow weekly menu and prep list as created by Executive Chef & Lead Chef
  • Handle all food according to food health and safety standards
  • Washing and preparing vegetables
  • Trimming and portioning meat and seafood
  • Making hot and cold sauces
  • Grilling, roasting, sautéing, braising meats and vegetables
  • Following company recipes when required
  • Make basic vinaigrettes and condiments without a recipe (i.e. Lemon Vinaigrette, Fresh Tomato Salsa)
  • Work on multiple projects at a time
  • Store and label all food according to company operating procedures and standard food safety standards
  • Wrap and label food for transport according to company operating procedures
  • Help keep the kitchen, fridge, freezer and prep area organized according to company operating procedures
  • Help ensure food leaves the kitchen accurately and on-time according to the daily schedule
  • Assist other team members when needed
  • Clean and sanitize work station often and as-needed during shift

Catering Line Cook Requirements and Qualifications

  • Has a current ServeSafe Food Handler’s Certificate
  • Takes direction well and is a team player
  • Able to multitask and manage time efficiently
  • Keen attention to detail; takes pride in their work
  • Fast learner; able to memorize recipes and techniques after making a dish a few times
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Has 3+ years professional cooking experience (catering experience a plus)
  • Available to work Monday – Friday 7am – 3pm (weekends occasionally required)
  • Able to bend, move and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Able to stand and work on their feet for 8 hours
  • Must pass background check
  • Able to read and write English
  • Has a professional demeanor
