THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently in search of a talented, passionate and experienced General Manager to join and lead our opening team at SMT – This 16,000 sq. ft. entertainment complex will bring traditional Korean tastes in an aesthetically modern way and offer unique nightlight options such as private luxurious karaoke rooms and a dance floor.

The General Manager is responsible for directing and managing the overall food and beverage operation; building and inspiring a great team, delivering consistent, high-quality food and beverage, providing excellent guest service and driving results to maximize revenues, guest satisfaction, associate satisfaction and meet overall goals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As the General Manager, your duties will include:

  • Directly responsible for overseeing all operations
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, counsel and supervise team members
  • Create and submit all required operational, financial, budgetary, inventory and relegated reports in a timely manner to Ownership
  • Liaise with Ownership to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals
  • Plan and monitor the day-to-day running of business to ensure smooth progress and elevated guest experiences
  • Ensure that the guest experience meet brand standards at all times
  • Improve food cost, labor cost, and operating expenses by systemically reviewing processes and implementing cost control measures
  • Develop a written set of operating standards around food store set up, hospitality, cleanliness, and organization
  • Evaluate regularly the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and apply improvements
  • Manage procurement processes and coordinate material and resources allocation
  • Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability
  • Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors
  • Evaluate overall performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  • Ensure that the company runs with legality and conformity to established regulations
  • Oversee and maintain high levels of cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas, all the while abiding by state sanitation/health directives and company policy
  • Provide orientation of company and department rules, policies and procedures and oversee training of any new employees

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 3-4 years of General Manager experience at a restaurant within a property of similar size and quality, 5-6 years of experience in Restaurant Management, and 10 years plus in the Hospitality Industry
  • Extensive experience in high volume restaurants, bars, nightlife and a plus
  • Sommelier experience preferred
  • Ability to oversee multiple outlets
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and react to changes in volume and revenues
  • Knowledge and experience with forecasting, budgeting, labor management, and purchasing
  • Ability to analyze, forecast data, and make judgments to ensure proper payroll and production control
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems in a timely manner, efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision and work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends/holidays
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 30 pounds on a consistent basis
  • Must possess strong communication and listening skills, excellent speaking, reading and writing skills
  • Considerable financial acumen and knowledge of mathematical skills necessary to create, analyze and interpret reports, budgets and forecast data
  • Ability to obtain any governmental required licenses or certificates (for example, Serve Safe certification or any other Food Handler’s permit required in the state of California)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Multiple language abilities preferred. Fluency in English required and Korean or Spanish desired
  • A genuine passion for the hospitality industry and ability to positively influence the workplace with an upbeat and inspirational attitude is a must
