There are exciting opportunities available for the right individuals for our managed event venues in the Harrisburg/Lancaster/Carlisle/York regions.

JDK offers a 401k with up to a 4% match, paid vacations, benefits, and a company cell phone for our Venue Sales Managers after successful completion of a designated introductory period and duration of employment.

Pay Structure:

Base pay plus commission.  

Summary of Purpose:

A Venue Sales Manager is responsible for increasing revenue at JDK’s managed venues by developing new and existing client base with proactive sales techniques and effective client maintenance. The Venue Sales Manager is responsible for selling and cross-selling a variety of event venues in the Central Pennsylvania region including but not limited to the Harrisburg, York, Carlisle, and Lancaster territories.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing revenue goals of all managed properties (selling and planning) as outlined in annual plan for each property.
  • Proactive solicitation of target markets; to include cold calls, follow-up repeat business, lost business, and management of all inquiries.
  • Actively up-sell and grow existing business with additional events, products, and services.
  • Acquire knowledge about all managed venues in order to successfully sell to prospective clients and develop specialized knowledge about venues in your assigned designated territories.
  • Respond to all inquiries received, handle initial inquiries in efficient manner, and provide consistent follow-up with printed material, customized letters/emails, and scheduled phone maintenance.
  • Secures date and facility to best suit client needs, arrange for client to view facilities, and discuss options. Provides printed menus, property inclusions, policy materials, and a listing of experience opportunities as a tool for initial planning process.
  • Introduces client to the Event Specialist who will orchestrate and coordinate all additional event details throughout the planning process.
  • Provide the Event Specialist with all pertinent information about the client including the signed contract and copy of deposit, planning notes and event details already discussed with the client, and next steps with the client so the Event Specialist can properly service the client through the remainder of the planning process.
  • Responsible for making recommendations to the Director of Venue Marketing and Sales about any updates/improvements to properties to make more attractive and rentable.  Also responsible for keeping up to date with industry standards and trends to enable team to provide the best possible service.
  • Contribute to internal communication efforts by participating in necessary meetings.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, that are needed to meet the goals of the venues.
  • Be a brand advocate and culture ambassador for the venues and company.
  • Contribute to the effective team management of all problems, issues, and opportunities.
  • Act as a team player, providing expertise within the team and with other team members, as appropriate.
  • Manage consistent communication follow-up procedures with all event inquiries
  • Communicate via in-person meetings and consistent email/phone messages with clients to identify their needs and to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Develop and provide solutions for any potential guest issues or client concerns
  • Contribute to the success of the venue by ensuring successful events, satisfied guests, and consistent sales results
  • Be a brand advocate and culture ambassador for the venue and company
  • Direct coordinators and event team members through clear and detailed communication
  • Conduct market research, gather information, and negotiate contracts with event vendors prior to closing any deals for event production
  • Complete Event Feedback Forms after each event
  • Notify management team of any equipment failures or items needed for replacement
  • Maintain an updated vendor contact list and have thorough knowledge of vendor information in order to assist clients
  • Attend weekly company wide sales meetings and all venue management meetings
  • Assist with training of team members and vendors on event procedures and venue rules
  • Solicit potential business from applicable markets using telephone/email/text messaging, advertising, and attendance at various association or organization functions
  • Solicit repeat business from history files
  • Will be required to perform other duties, as assigned, that are needed to meet the goals of the venue

Required Qualifications:

  • Exhibit strong interpersonal communication to current and prospective clients, vendors, and team members.
  • Passion for the event industry and employing sales skills.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work creatively with the public and high-level clients as well as all levels of management.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills, adept telephone manner, and proven leadership ability.
  • Engages a self-starter behavior with ability to manage multiple projects independently and remain highly motivated.
  • Ability to learn Caterease (sales and event management software).
  • MS Office proficiency.
  • Google Suite proficiency - primarily Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Voice.
  • Two (2) years of sales, marketing, or hospitality experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Hospitality, Communications, Business, or related field or three to five (3-5) years related experience.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including required evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Display a positive, upbeat, friendly, and professional demeanor
  • Experience with catering or CRM software
  • Familiarity of Event Venues in the area
  • Willing to submit references from previous clients

Environment: Busy office and telephone environment. Occasional work outdoors in varying temperatures. Driving required for scheduling tours at multiple locations throughout assigned territory.

Required Qualifications:

  • Google Suite proficiency - primarily Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Voice
  • 1-2 years of Food and Beverage experience
  • 1-2 years of sales or marketing experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required in Hospitality, Communications, Business, or related field or 3-5 years related experience
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently, 50 pounds on occasion

  • Experience with catering software
  • Familiarity of Event Venues in the area
  • Willing to submit references from previous clients
  • Enjoy responsibility and leading a team of determined Event Coordinators and event staff
