The Director of Revenue Management will set rate and revenue strategies for Paligroup properties in conjunction with guidance from the VP of Room Sales & Marketing. This position will manage and sell the house in accordance with revenue maximization strategies and yield management - ensuring all details are accounted for while providing reservations and bookings for guests from direct inquires, third-party sites and all resource opportunities.
1. RESERVATIONS & REVENUE:
a. Supporting revenue, distribution, and online marketing with associated revenue maximization
b. Setting & following revenue Strategy program/restrictions according to SOP developed with the VP of Sales. Input and execute pricing, inventory and stay control strategies
c. Establishing daily and weekly Revenue Strategy meetings with VP of Sales and Rooms Housemasters. Ensure rate parity on all OTA sites, property website, GDS, and all other areas where hotel rates will show.
d. Delegating and utilize front desk agents as an extension of the reservations team to enter, modify, and create reservations daily. Being competent in loading rates, opening and closing rates for all third party sites, and especially familiar with Synxis.
e. Attend all training programs offered. (meet with Sabre representative to understand best practices).
f. Completing daily pick-up reports to monitor market demand (Rubicon). Enter daily star data into partner portal; daily, weekly and monthly revenue metrics reports
g. Monitoring all Extranets/emails and ensure accuracy of data entry
h. Controlling cancellations, no shows, and early check outs (bill for them) to maximize revenues
I. Reviewing arrivals reports and no show reports to ensure accuracy.
j. Following hotel policies on billing, routing, master accounts.
k. Monitoring all 3rd party and FIT rate plans
l. Monitoring all V.I.P.'s, special guests and requests.
m. Following and enforcing all hotel credit policies.
n. Knowing on property information (outlets, hours of operation, etc.) and ensure the staff is trained to communicate hotel information to callers.
o. Maintaining an organized and comprehensive filing system with documentation of reservations, reports, restrictions, etc.
p. Reviewing all chargebacks and follow up to ensure revenues are retained.
q. Maintaining savvy computer skills with heavy emphasis on Microsoft Excel and in-depth understanding of spreadsheets and statistical methods for analyzing data.
r. Ensuring all rates are loaded and inventory maintenance is correct
s. Reviewing the travel agent commission’s reports monthly with the VP of Sales to pay out only what is required and cross check invoices for variances.
t. Communicating strategies and procedures to other departments as required
u. Being knowledgeable of all rates, room types, and hotel product.
v. Preparing Revenue Management Report information for all related meetings
w. Monitoring and analyzing the competition daily / weekly through shop reports and the Internet to identify selling strategies and market trends.
x. Assisting in preparing short and long-term forecasts
y. Analyzing local events and activities and project the effect of opportunities they create.
z. Evaluating private sale opportunities, or e-marking sale opportunities to fill demand in need periods; ensuring rates are at parity on all websites; ensuring discounts are closed in peak periods; developing relationships with all partner sites to ensure maximum page placement and involvement in all marketing or promotional opportunities.
2. COMMUNICATION & ORGANIZATION:
a. Multi task, meet deadlines, follow up on special projects, communicate exceptionally well, understand and utilize Opera, Operetta, Room Master, Excel, Word & Outlook, and be able to excel in a fast paced environment;
b. Mentor your staff to smile, make eye contact, be friendly, enthusiastic and helpful at all times;
c. Work directly with VP of Room Sales & Marketing or Front Office Manager for any and all issues relating to acceptable delivery of all rooms and/or room sales related duties;
d. Have an encouraging morale and excitement amongst team;
e. Seek to develop best practices for all areas of responsibility;
f. Work side by side with Executive Team to ensure a cohesive spirit and goal achievement;
g. Use common sense when dealing with guests and staff
h. Work to create strong relationships with PALIGROUP vendors and suppliers.
a. Carry out PALIGROUP protocol to ensure all guest billings are complete as follows:
i. Reservations have valid billing in advance of their arrival;
ii. No guests checked into hotel without a signed registration card that matches to a valid ID and imprint of the credit card;
iii. All PM accounts are rolled over and communicated to managers as needed daily via night audit;
iv. All credit cards are authorized/deposits placed as needed;
v. CC authorization forms received and completed;
vi. Bad credit addressed and resolved as needed;
vii. All errors to billing or change/refund requests are addressed (in coordination with VP of Sales and/or Controller).
b. Ensure all routing and billing methods are complete for arriving guests in advance of check in and making certain FD agents comply with protocol.
4. GUEST SERVICES & BLOCKING:
a. Assist front desk as needed with blocking and room reservations;
b. Ensuring VIPs are given proper attention /execute service recovery when appropriate;
c. Develop and enhance room’s concierge book and guest experiences;
5. Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned and highly intelligent hospitality professional with outstanding management skills and extensive hands-on experience. Available to work when needed including weekends, holidays, and nights.
