IT Operations Manager

Position Location: Springfield, VA

Clearance Requirement: Top Secret

We are currently seeking an experienced IT Operations Manager to support a mission critical application and ensure the highest levels of availability, performance and security. The Operations Manager will be the POC of communications with customer executive leadership, other IT organizations that are depending on the enterprise IT services, and direct/indirect business stakeholders. The ideal candidate with be the primary on-site technical manager responsible for managing existing operations and implementing servers and desktops in a geographically dispersed environment. The IT Operations Manager will be the POC for implementing operations processes within the organization, including training and supervision of contractor staff, managing expectations across all stakeholder groups; sharing responsibility for project success.
Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and ensure the deployment and on-going daily operational use of applications in a VMware/Virtual environment
  • Provide professional, technical expertise in maintaining server and application services and routinely evaluates system performance and resolves issues as soon as possible
  • Establish an operations schedule that ensures the full efficient and consistent operation of IT services
  • Ensure all required processes, procedures, and documentation are in place and enforced
  • Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements
  • Plan and manage system improvement, maintenance and repair tasks, budget, user requirements in coordination with other departments
  • Coordinate the implementation of new applications or system improvements with developers and engineering team
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the entire operation of the IDMS/CMS system, communicate issues, and recommend solutions in both verbal and written format to management and customers
  • Create system level white papers and requirements specifications
  • Advise on and document security standards, load balancing and failover strategies, server selection strategies, server configuration standards, testing and quality assurance procedures and change management procedures
  • Oversee Ticket Escalation process
  • Review SLA metrics and ensure adherence to contracted SLA with helpdesk team

Basic Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related technical/business areas or equivalent work experience
  • 10 years of relevant technical and business experience
  • Business experience should include assignments in one or more business and technical processes
  • PMP Certification required
  • Technical and/or ITIL, or equivalent Certifications
  • Capacity to plan and manage system improvement, maintenance and repair tasks and user requirements in coordination with users and developers
  • Knowledge of computer networks (including LANs, WANs), operating systems, software and system access/security
  • Understanding of VMWare Administration and Management in Data Center Environment using VMware vSphere 6.0/6.5, ESX server 6.0 and above and VCenter Server 6.5
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, solid writing skills, good analytical/problem solving ability, experience with Help Desk functions/software, demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Experience with Intercede Card Management System a Plus
