Earning an “A+ for creativity”, Vandal is a cool Lower Eastsider Restauran from Tao Group Hospitality and Chef Chris Santos, dispenses “elevated” global street fare offered tapas-style amid “stunning” murals (including one by Shepard Fairey); with a “secret entrance” and a downstairs DJ lounge. The Front of House team is looking for an experienced Maita D' to join our dynamic leadership team! Responsibilities Include:

  • Review reservation book to strategize the most effective plan for seating, while anticipating potential problem areas
  • Review reservation notes, photos and special requests in detail to prepare for dining service
  • Communicating pertinent information about incoming guests to FOH and BOH management and FOH service team
  • Support with welcoming and seating guests
  • Ability to be resourceful, calm and proactive when issues arise
  • Knowledge of menu items, tables and seat numbers
  • Execute opening and closing procedures
  • Make guests feel comfortable while waiting
  • Create or alter reservations for private bookings, events, and restaurants, getting approval if needed
  • Be ready and willing to fill in where needed to ensure our high service standards and efficiency of operations by helping other team members as needed
  • Professional correspondence via email, phone calls both internally and with guests
  • Maintain mental athleticism for coordination with hosts, servers and managers to seat guests in a warm and hospitable manner, while also meeting the needs of the restaurant
  • Strong communication and listening skills to effectively deliver accurate messaging to both guests and teammates


  • Experience working as a Maitre D in a fine dining environment
  • Positive attitude, a sense of responsibility and ownership of the position
  • Appetite for creating memorable experiences for our guests and members
  • The ability to stay calm and positive under pressure
  • Detail oriented with writing, communication and phone etiquette skills
  • Team oriented with a strong sense of punctuality, reliability and professionalism
  •  Demonstrated  experience with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency, strong work ethic, ability to mentally prioritize and stay organized in a high volume atmosphere
  • Fluent in English 
  • Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver items up to 30 pounds
  • Be able to work in standing position for long periods of time
