Socalo is a growing company with a small, tight knit group of dedicated individuals that are passionate about food, beverage, and service. We are looking for a dedicated, organized server who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced culinary environment. Due to staffing needs, the server is expected to work weekends, nights, and holidays. Above all, the server will conduct themselves in a way reflecting the culture and philosophy of Socalo.

Job Brief

We are looking for an experienced server to take food/beverage orders, ensure tables are served, and collect payment.  You should be able to thrive within a fast-paced environment and easily work with bussers, chefs, and other restaurant staff.  A positive attitude while working under pressure is greatly desired.

Responsibilities:

  • Take food and drink orders from customers accurately and with a positive attitude.
  • Write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
  • Engage with customers in a friendly manner.
  • Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions.
  • Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
  • Collect payments from tables.
  • Prepare checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes.
  • Help food preparation staff when necessary.
  • Deliver food orders to a variety of customers in a timely manner.
  • Help the wait staff set up tables by placing appropriate tableware, eating utensils, decorations, and napkins.
  • Uphold our food health safety and sanitation principles.
  • Occasionally check on customers to handle any impromptu requests or issues.
  • Remove dirty dishes from the table.
  • Inform management on customer feedback.

Requirements:

  • Experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • A positive attitude and ability work well under pressure with bussers, cooks and other staff.
  • Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised.
  • Able to handle money accurately and operate a point-of-sale system.
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and deliver orders in a timely manner.
