Socalo is a growing company with a small, tight knit group of dedicated individuals that are passionate about food, beverage, and service. We are looking for a dedicated, organized pantry cook who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast-paced culinary environment. Due to staffing needs, the pantry cook is expected to work weekends, nights, and holidays. Above all, the pantry cook will conduct themselves in a way reflecting the culture and philosophy of Socalo.

Job Brief

We are looking for a pantry cook to prepare cold food items on our new menu.  The ideal candidate should be able to handle a fast-paced kitchen environment and be able to prepare dishes to specification by the executive chef.  You should also be familiar with food safety guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Make cold appetizers, including salads
  • Prepare vinaigrettes, dips and herb-infused oils
  • Perform meal-prep activities before guests arrive (like chopping vegetables, cutting fish and meat and washing fruits)
  • Store ingredients to keep them fresh and reduce food waste
  • Check food plating, temperature and portions for all cold dishes
  • Sterilize kitchen equipment at the end of your shift
  • Monitor stock and place orders, as needed
  • Maintain a clean station at all times

Requirements

  • Work experience as a Pantry Cook or similar role
  • Hands-on experience with professional kitchen equipment
  • Good knowledge of food plating techniques
  • Understanding of health and safety rules in a kitchen
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability to work in shifts, including evenings and weekends
