JOB OVERVIEW

The Sous Chef Manager assists the Chef de Cuisine (CDC) in managing the production of high-quality, authentic Italian dishes in Eataly’s exciting, high-volume, open kitchens. The Sous Chef Manager is a strong, focused management presence, not only maintaining food quality standards, but also passionately training and inspiring staff at all levels about Eataly’s products and services. Directly reports to the Executive Chef and manages the kitchen staff.

  • Supports the CDC in all day-to-day operational needs to deliver Eataly’s business, employee, menu and guest service strategies

  • Participates in menu planning and actively manages food production

  • Manages hiring, training, scheduling, managing and termination of back-of-house (BOH) employees

  • Trains and works with Cooks and Sous Chef Managers on the hot line to ensure quality, speed, safety and health standards are consistently met

  • Documents, investigates, escalates and resolves employee or guest incidents

  • Collaborates interdepartmentally with restaurants, store outlets and corporate as needed to plan activities, special events, share information, etc.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4+ years in a back of house position with 1+ years of management experience preferred

  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills

  • Advanced computer skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or degree from post-secondary culinary arts program strongly preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends

  • Ability to stoop, bend, reach and exert well-paced mobility for periods up to 8 hours in length

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in weight

  • Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment

  • Food Handler’s License
